In an effort to help raise awareness about tick-borne illnesses, singer/songwriter/publisher Gregg Kirk, of the New York Metro area, founded The Ticked Off Music Fest, which will occur Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the World Cafe Live, in Wilmington, Delaware.
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Kirk has spent many years working in the music industry, launching his career by playing with Philly legend Robert Hazard shortly after Hazard penned “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” for Cyndi Lauper. Kirk then went on to form his own bands, including The Killtoys, Shovelhead, The Figurados and The Zen Engines. He has spent the past decade battling chronic Lyme Disease. Lyme and tick-borne diseases are the fastest growing infectious diseases in the country and Pennsylvania in particular has had the most reported cases of Lyme in the last year. The goal of the event is to drive awareness, give tips on prevention, connect those suffering from illness with Lyme-educated doctors, and to educate on the many symptoms of the diseases.
Gregg will be my guest tomorrow on Recipe Records Radio Show and he will share his purpose in founding this all-day music festival which features performers such as John & Brittany, Laura Cheadle, Cliff Hillis, Schroeder, Melissa Cox and Gregg's band: The Zen Engines. Speakers & renowned authors will also appear at the event in support of the cause.
Listen and call into the show live tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CST:
